Text for Headers
Is it possible to put the title and subtitle of your webpages in the header. The answer is YES!
Why would you want to do this?
There are a couple of reasons. Number one is that the Search Engines look for content on your pages. They cannot read graphic text, but if the text for the header is part of the content of your page, that will be included in their search.
Another reason is that graphics take a lot longer to load than text. This is important because you want your webpages to load quickly.
This tutorial site has the header text written in the body of the webpage, but it shows up in the header looking like it is part of the graphic.
Here are two more reasons for adding your header text to the body of your webpage:
- Some people have graphics turned off, by default, so by adding the text to your content, the title of your page will be able to be seen
- People who use screen readers will be able to have the text read to them. If the text is graphical, the screen reader can't read it
